Fireplace & Firewood

 

EXTREME care should be used if you are using the fireplace.  Please make sure the fire is not tall enough to enter the flue.  Also, do not load the fireplace at the end of the night and allow to burn unattended overnight - fires should ONLY be going when someone is there to monitor.  Starter sticks are provided, but please only use a couple of them to start a fire.  Using more than a few starter sticks can result in the fire overheating the fireplace.  We try to keep firewood stocked for your use, so please feel free to use it.  However, firewood delivery has been spotty over the past couple years, so we can’t guarantee it will be available.  The local gas stations sell bundles of firewood, so you may want to grab some just in case.

Outdoor Firepit

​

If using the bonfire pit, please use care and keep the fire at a reasonable size.  We try to have some firewood available for the fire pit, but wood deliveries have been hit and miss over the past couple of years.  There is plenty of smaller, fallen wood in the woods around the property if you'd like to gather some.  Also, local gas stations sell bundles of firewood for a few dollars.   Please use care and keep the fire at a reasonable size.  Do not use the fire pit in times of high winds.  ***PLEASE don’t leave cigarette butts in the firepit***.

IMPORTANT:  If you are looking for firewood in the wooded parts of the yard, please use caution.  The historic ice storm from this past April left a TON of damage to the woods in our area.  Many trees broke up high, and large limbs may still be left hanging in the trees.  Please be wary of your surroundings, especially with children.

​

 

Sauna​

​

Instructions for the outdoor sauna are located on the wall inside the sauna.  Please dont eat in the sauna, and kindly sit on a towel so that future guests can enjoy their experience as well.  :)

TVs, Bluetooth & Gaming

​

​All of the TVs are Roku smart TVs. To turn on the tabletop video game in the rec room, there is a red switch on the bottom corner of the game.  Once it's on, you can select games to play with the joystick control.  Please do not put food or drinks on the glass.  A Wii system is also available in the rec room for the large TV.

Small Appliances

​

​Our coffee pot has 2 options, you can make a full pot of coffee, or single serving using k-cups. Coffee/tea/cream/sugar are provided for your enjoyment.  The kitchen is stocked with a full array of small appliances: a 12" electric skillet, assortment of frying pans, skillets and pots, 4 slice toaster, blender, 8 qt crock pot, glass baking dishes and baking pans, wine glasses, cocktail glasses, beer mugs, coffee mugs and an electric griddle.  There is also a refrigerator for your use downstairs near the laundry room.

Deck and Grill

​

​There is a propane grill on the deck for your use. We try to keep propane tanks filled but if tanks run out, you can exchange the tanks at Meyer Ace Hardware only about 10 minutes away in Petoskey. If you should purchase a refill tank yourself, we will be happy to reimburse you for the cost. Please remember to get a receipt – thank you!

Please use caution and make sure children are supervised when they use the spiral slide on the deck.  The slide has a weight capacity of only 100lbs, so please no adults on the slide :)

Pets

​

​Please clean up after pets and do not allow them on the furniture or beds.

Safety

​

There is a fire extinguisher in the fireplace area – please familiarize yourself with its location.  ​

There are two permanently installed baby gates at the top and bottom of the stairs on the main floor.

Wifi

​​

We have high speed Truestream internet for your streaming/browsing use.  Access info is located on the fireplace mantel (you will also receive login info when you book).

Other Items...

 

Heating and Cooling: Central heating and A/C is controlled by the thermostat next to the dining area.  This is a touch screen thermostat and very easy to use - just touch the current temp and select a new temp.  You can also select heating or cooling mode depending on the season.  If you'd like to use the ceiling fans:  the main fan in the living/dining area is controlled by a remote by the dining room table.  (The main ceiling fan does an outstanding job of keeping the main floor and loft cool in the summer months)  Other fans in the bedrooms are also controlled by wall mounted remotes or switches.

A travel crib (Pack n Play) is also provided for your use and is located in the loft bedroom closet.

 

Linens: Towels are provided, but please do not use towels as beach/pool towels.​​​​​​​​​​​
