Everyone knows about Short's Brewery, of course. The place with the Huma Lupa, the Soft Parade, the awesome pizzas and the juniper berries in the lager. But Bellaire is more than just one eatery...
Try something different next time you're up. How about some mead and cider? Bee Well Meadery is right across the street. Toonie's Fish and Steak house serves up the best steaks in the north and doesn't break the bank. And a 10 minute trip up M-88 takes you to Mammoth Distillery in Central Lake, where the bourbon is actually very, very good (most bourbon made in MI - as any bourbon expert will tell you - is generally dreadful.) And no trip to Shanty Creek's Summit is complete without hitting Sarducci's for awesome Italian food, pizza and a cool ski town vibe.
Great food and drink options up here. But even so, when we're up at Schuss at Mountain View vacation townhouse, my choice is still the tried and true Bellaire Bar and Restaurant. Great burgers, Short's beer, friendly staff and almost never the 45 minute wait you might find a block down the street....
